Research with Animals
Animal research in the NIH intramural research program is overseen by the NIH Animal Research Advisory Committee and individual IC Animal Care and Use Committees.
If you conduct research with animals, you must take training related to ethical, humane, and safe practices for the care of laboratory animals.
Every lab working with animals must have an approved Animal Study Proposal (ASP) that lists the PI and key personnel who will be conducting animal procedures.
If your name is not listed on the ASP, you cannot perform the procedure.
